Objectives

The objective of the course is to introduce main concepts in Business Iintelligence (Β.Ι.). It includes material on the processes and methodologies for modeling, analysis and transformation of data into actionable knowledge and the evaluation of B.I. projects.

Business Intelligence requires knowledge in data modeling, storage and retrieval. We will review logical data models and querying (SQL) for database management systems. Data mining, statistical analysis along with reporting options such as management dashboards will be covered.

Contents

Students completing the course will understand concepts in:

- advanced relational databases, modeling, querying (SQL)

- business performance evaluation and management (e.g. dashboard creation, visualization), and,

- introductory concepts in data mining (e.g. clustering, classification, text analysis)

More details will be given in-class !

References

The material will be taken from several books that will be proposed in class and potentially from white-papers and personal notes/slides.
