Objectives

The objective of the course is to introduce the notions of “Data Analytics” and provide an overview and hands-on experience with analytical tasks. We will examine techniques and frameworks that are new in the field, focusing on algorithms and solutions that are performed on large scale data sets.

Contents

You should consult the course web-site. It will be getting updated during the semester with the relevant resources.

Overall, we will focus on large scale data analysis, and more specifically:
- Existing frameworks and techniques that can allow us to implement parallel and distributed programs able to scale with the size of the dataset by using many servers.
- Algorithms that can be use to extract value from different types of datasets.

References

The course material will be taken from different sources! You should consult the course web-site. It will be getting updated during the semester with the relevant resources.

If want one book, then Mining of Massive Datasets by Anand Rajaraman and Jeffrey David Ullman is the one.
