Objectifs

  • To deepen your understanding of the theory of finance, with a focus on applications to the decisions facing financial managers and investors.
  • To develop your ability to communicate your understanding of mainstream issues relating to finance.

Contenus

The material will address core issues in financial theory and decision-making, such as: time value of money; corporate performance measurement; capital budgeting; determining financing needs; valuation of bonds and stocks; risk and return, diversification and the CAPM; market efficiency; cost of capital; capital structure policy; securities issuance; firm valuation; mergers, acquisitions and restructuring; risk management and derivative securities. The analysis incorporates a number of general themes in finance, including managerial objectives, agency issues, corporate governance and ethics, with a focus on value creation.

Mid-term exam (optional, in class, 90 minutes) 30%

If you are absent for the optional mid-term exam, or if your score in the final exam is superior to your score in the mid-term exam, then your evaluation weighting will be:
