Objectives

The objective of the course is to introduce the notions of “Data Analytics” and provide an overview and hands-on experience with analytical tasks. We will examine techniques and frameworks that are new in the field, focusing on algorithms and solutions that are performed on large scale data sets.

Overall we will see how we implement parallel solutions to large-scale problems and how through them we achieveresults on structured and unstructured data.

Pre-requisites

The automn MScIS "Data Mining" course. Familiarity with probabilities, statistics and preferably programming languages.

Evaluation will be based on
- 2 pieces of group work (travaux de groupes) : 40% of final mark altogether.

- 2 written tests during the semester. Each test will have a duration of 2 hours and is worth 30% of final mark (i.e. two tests worth 60%)

Books, notes, computers are not allowed.

Evaluation:

The students will keep the marks of the 3 pieces of group work they obtained during the semester. They will have to write a 2-hour written exam.
