Objectifs

This course intends to study economic (under)development. Students will get exposure to some of the most important debates in development economics. Moreover, they will develop familiarity with a set of econo-metric techniques widely used by researchers and development practitioners.

Contenus

Using a mix of micro and macro approaches, the course will focus mainly on the topics of: i) food, ii) education, iii) health, iv) credit markets, risk and savings iv) gender and development, v) institutions and development.

To study these topics, we will identify a set of analytical frameworks, grounded in economic theory, and verify them with rigorous empirical evidence.

A part of the first 4 sessions will be dedicated to an introduction to the software Stata.
